Compensation: £90,000 – £125,000 per year + Bonus & Equity Options
About the Role:
On behalf of our client, a market-leading global online delivery platform, we are hiring a Senior Golang Engineer in London. In this core backend position, you will build ultra-low-latency distributed services, real-time order processing pipelines, and high-concurrency microservices handling hundreds of thousands of concurrent requests across global markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance microservices and distributed backend systems using Golang.
- Architect low-latency event-driven systems and asynchronous messaging pipelines utilizing Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Optimize backend service performance, memory allocation, and CPU profiling to handle severe traffic spikes with minimal latency.
- Collaborate within cross-functional agile squads with Product Managers, Site Reliability Engineers, and Mobile Engineers to ship platform features.
- Champion software craftsmanship through strict adherence to clean code, comprehensive unit/integration testing, and code reviews.
- Design and maintain scalable database schemas and caching strategies across PostgreSQL, Redis, and DynamoDB.
- Maintain cloud-native infrastructure utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS cloud environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software development experience with at least 3+ years of dedicated, hands-on production experience in Golang.
- Deep expertise in concurrent programming (goroutines, channels), distributed systems concepts, and memory management in Go.
- Proven experience designing and running high-throughput REST and gRPC microservices in production.
- Strong practical knowledge of distributed caching (Redis), relational databases (PostgreSQL), and message brokers (Kafka).
- Solid understanding of containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and observability (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
