Senior Golang Engineer

Location: Bristol, UK
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 Days Onsite Per Week)
Contract Length: 6 Months
Rate: £300-£400 per day
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

About the Team

The team is responsible for security across the mobile channel, providing a suite of mobile security components and services that deliver a comprehensive security posture for mobile applications. This includes capabilities such as penetration testing, application obfuscation, and security consultancy.

Their mission is to build a scalable, adaptable, and proactive approach to securing mobile applications across the organisation, enabling engineering teams to operate with confidence and agility in an evolving threat landscape.

The team is passionate about delivering innovative features and capabilities that enhance the customer experience across multiple mobile brands while maintaining the highest standards of security, reliability, and engineering excellence.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Golang Engineer to join our Mobile Security Engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable backend services that support critical mobile security capabilities.

Working within a modern cloud-native environment, you will collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, high-performance Golang applications and services.
  • Build and support REST APIs and microservices that underpin mobile security solutions.
  • Contribute to cloud-native architectures using containerisation technologies and Kubernetes.
  • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, automation, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise application performance to meet demanding non-functional requirements.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, architects, and security specialists to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
  • Champion best practices across software development, observability, and operational excellence.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of writing secure, scalable, enterprise-grade Go applications.
  • Experience with REST APIs, containerisation technologies, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and deployment strategies.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of best coding practices, code management, Agile development methodologies, and continuous delivery.
  • Experience optimising and fine-tuning backend applications to meet demanding non-functional requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Java development.
  • Experience with cryptography frameworks in Go and Java.
  • Experience working with SQL databases.
  • Experience and/or interest in application security and mobile application security.
