Senior Goods In Quality Inspector - Nights

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Goods In Quality Inspector to join our Quality team covering our night shift. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional who is passionate about maintaining high standards, developing others, and driving operational excellence within a regulated manufacturing environment.

As the Senior Goods In Quality Inspector, you will play a key role in leading day-to-day inspection activities, ensuring products and documentation meet the required quality standards and regulatory requirements. You will act as the first point of escalation for inspection-related issues, support the development of the inspection team, and deputise for the Goods Inwards Inspection Team Lead when required.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help drive a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement while ensuring departmental objectives and performance targets are achieved.

Hours: Mon-Thur 2200-0545 and Friday 1600- 2050

What you’ll do

Team Leadership, Training & Development

  • Support the onboarding, training, and development of Goods In Quality Inspectors.
  • Provide coaching, buddy training, and practical support across the team.
  • Maintain and review training records and competency matrices, Identify training needs
  • Promote best practice, continuous learning, and a "Right First Time" culture.
  • Support cross-functional training to enhance team flexibility and capability.
  • Deputise for the Goods Inwards Inspection Team Lead when required.

Goods Inwards Inspection

  • Conduct inspections of raw materials, semi-finished products, packaging, instrumentation, and other incoming goods against approved specifications and drawings.
  • Verify products meet established acceptance criteria and support product disposition decisions.
  • Investigate and process non-conforming materials in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in product review activities, including concessions, rework, split batches, corrective actions, and scrap disposition.
  • Complete inspection activities accurately and within agreed timelines.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Good Documentation Practice (GDocP) and company procedures.
  • Review inspection records and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 13485, GMP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated, fit for purpose, and maintained appropriately. Coordinate calibration schedules and perform routine equipment verification activities.
  • Support CAPA investigations and ensure timely completion of assigned actions.
  • Escalate quality and compliance concerns promptly.

Operational Support

  • Supervise daily inspection activities and help ensure workload priorities are achieved.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs, quality metrics, productivity, and training compliance.
  • Support resource planning and personnel allocation.
  • Coordinate departmental priorities to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects.
  • Provide regular performance updates to management and stakeholders.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A good standard of education, including Maths and English.
  • Previous inspection experience within a regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Experience interpreting specifications, drawings, and acceptance criteria.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience mentoring, training, or supervising team members.
  • A proactive, positive, and solution-focused attitude.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, GMP, or similar regulated industry standards.
  • Experience supporting audits, CAPA activities, and non-conformance investigations.
