We are currently looking for an Operations & Delivery Manager – Grid to join our growing Grid team in the UK.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Grid, you will lead the delivery of grid connection projects for utility-scale and renewable energy projects, primarily across Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

You will have end-to-end ownership of Grid Works, from design coordination through construction, commissioning, energisation, and handover. The role carries responsibility for both construction and electrical infrastructure delivery, working closely with DNOs, IDNOs, TSOs, NESO, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced grid and construction professional with strong expertise in HV/MV/LV electrical infrastructure, grid connections, and renewable energy project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the delivery of grid connections across 11kV–132kV, with exposure to 400kV where applicable, primarily for Solar PV and BESS projects.
  • Managing private, contestable, and non-contestable works where applicable.
  • Coordinating design teams and design subcontractors, including overseeing submissions to DNOs, TSOs, and NESO.
  • Working closely with Procurement to ensure the timely ordering and delivery of project equipment.
  • Taking overall responsibility for construction delivery, including civil works, substations, HV/LV cabling, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.
  • Leading project commissioning, testing, protection validation, DNO witness testing, energisation, and handover.
  • Managing PGMD/ONCC submissions to DNOs/NESO.
  • Leading multidisciplinary site teams, including Construction Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, Site Engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Driving effective coordination and sequencing between civil and electrical works.
  • Providing operational leadership across Grid Project Management, Technical & Design, and Site Delivery teams.
  • Ensuring effective resource allocation across multiple renewable energy projects.
  • Building and managing a strong subcontractor network, working with the Tender & Contracts Manager on subcontractor selection and securing final approval from the Head of Grid.
  • Working collaboratively with HSE, Legal, and other central functions to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with DNO standards, NERS accreditation, and CDM regulations.
  • Acting as the primary operational interface with clients, DNOs/TSOs, subcontractors, and local authorities where applicable.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, design, and quality requirements.
  • Supporting the Tender & Commercial team with successful tender submissions and project mobilisation.
  • Driving operational improvements and implementing processes and procedures to support efficient delivery.
  • Supporting the continued growth and scaling of METLEN's Grid delivery capabilities.
  • Contributing to strategic planning, including the development of transmission connection and wider grid infrastructure projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
