Building a sustainable tomorrow

Join BAM's Ground Engineering team and help deliver some of Scotland's most significant infrastructure, energy and development projects.

Our engineers lead the delivery of safe, profitable and technically excellent ground investigations across Scotland, providing the critical ground data that enables projects to be designed and constructed with confidence.

From renewable energy developments and electricity transmission infrastructure to transportation, water and major civil engineering projects, no two projects are the same.

As a Senior Ground Investigation Engineer, you will play a key role in leading project delivery, developing engineers and helping shape the future growth of our Ground Investigation team in Scotland.

Your team

Ground investigation remains a site-focused profession and our projects frequently take place across Scotland, including the Highlands, Islands and other remote locations.

No two projects are the same. One week you could be supporting a transmission infrastructure project in the Highlands, the next providing technical leadership on rail, transportation, renewable energy, water or major civil engineering projects elsewhere in Scotland.

The role requires flexibility and a willingness to work away from home when projects demand it. We recognise the commitment this requires and ensure our reward package appropriately reflects the nature of the work and the contribution our people make.

As part of BAM's Ground Engineering team, you'll join a highly experienced group with a strong reputation for technical excellence, safe delivery and developing talented people.

Making Possible

As a Senior Ground Investigation Engineer, you will take ownership of the planning and delivery of ground investigation projects, ensuring resources, programme, commercial and technical requirements are effectively managed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
