I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Good communication and presentation skills are also required as you will be engaging with our clients on a daily basis as well as members of the public from time to time.

As a member of the Grounds Maintenance team you will be representing the service, promoting its work and be an advocate for Dorset Council and its partners.

The Place Directorate combines front-line service delivery in coast and countryside services with a key corporate function in property management. Dorset’s environment provides the essential goods and services necessary to maintain economic growth and community wellbeing. For it to continue to do so requires it to be well managed and the service makes a major contribution to this in partnership with others who share DC’s aims. The Service also has responsibility for a wide range of public assets - buildings, land and sites - and ensures that these are used in ways which benefit the people of Dorset as well as meeting organisational need.
