Job Title

Work under the direction of line manager, to develop and maintain all of Fulham Football Clubs pitches and landscapes. In line with the highest pitch parameters and maintenance standards expected by the Head of Grounds, Squad Management and Directors of the Club.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Club pitches are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that all machines, tools, equipment, and club properties are maintained appropriately.
  • Ensure that the Management Team are kept informed of progress with routine work and are notified of major issues as soon as they are identified.
  • Keep line manager and staff informed of pitch works, job lists and communicate any issues to relevant parties.
  • Liaise with outside users/contractors (as required)
  • Ensure that all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilised to minimise waste.

Day to day operational duties will include but are not limited to physical activities and operating machinery including:

  • Mowing (Hand and ride on machines)
  • White line marking to a high standard.
  • Driving tractors & utility vehicles.
  • Moving frost covers in the winter.
  • Chemical spraying (If qualified)
  • Hedge trimming and collection.
  • Weed picking.
  • Heavy lifting (Bags of product e.g., 25kg)
  • Use of strimmer’s, blowers, and edger’s.
  • Moving of goals and dugouts around the training ground.
  • Aeration of pitches and adjacent areas
  • Irrigation operation and watering duties.
  • Daily diary entries.
  • Pitch testing and data collection.
  • Supervision of team operations.
  • Grow light movement and maintenance.
  • Checking/replacement of nets in line with h&s requirements.
  • Coupling up of trailers and other equipment to the back of tractors

Matchday / Weekend work (ROTA)

  • Provide pitch allocation for teams using Motspur park.
  • Liaise with squad and academy management for matches and training.
  • General maintenance of the pitches and landscapes.

Essential

Experience:

  • Full driving license.
  • NVQ level 2 in sports turf or equivalent.
  • Experience of the sports turf industry.
  • Spraying qualifications pa1, pa2, pa6.

Preferred

Experience:

  • NVQ level 3 in sports turf or equivalent.
  • 2+ years as a Groundsman.
  • Football pitch maintenance to a high standard.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Take responsibility of tasks

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Basic irrigation knowledge.
  • Tractor coupling knowledge.
  • Setting of machinery.
  • Understanding of health and safety.
  • I.T. competent.
  • Understanding of synthetic turf maintenance.
