Senior Group Financial Accountant

Chalk Hill Group are partnering with a well-established, nationwide organisation to recruit a Senior Group Financial Accountant, based in Dorset, with an expectation to be in the office twice a month. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant to join a high-performing Group Finance team, leading key areas of statutory and regulatory reporting whilst developing a talented team.

Reporting to the head of department, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant and timely external reporting across a complex group structure. Alongside your technical expertise, you'll help shape best practice, drive continuous improvement and support the ongoing development of the wider finance team, whilst delegating tasks and reviewing their work accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the preparation and review of statutory accounts for the group's subsidiary companies.
  • Supporting the production of consolidated management accounts.
  • Acting as the primary contact for the external audit process, coordinating information across the finance team and ensuring a smooth and efficient audit.
  • Taking ownership of the group's external regulatory reporting, including statutory submissions and returns.
  • Managing the preparation and submission of entity and consolidated VAT returns, whilst acting as the key liaison with HMRC and external VAT advisers.
  • Working closely with corporation tax advisers to support annual tax reporting.
  • Providing technical accounting guidance across the finance function, ensuring compliance with the latest accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting, helping to drive continuous improvement across the finance team.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of qualified and part qualified finance professionals, delegating tasks effectively.
  • Deputising for the head of department when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
