About Be the Business
Be the Business (BtB) is an independent, purpose-driven charity focused on helping the UK’s small and medium-sized businesses increase their productivity.
We work with business leaders, major employers, government and leading universities to tackle the barriers that prevent SMEs from performing at their best - from strengthening leadership and management capability to accelerating the adoption of AI and new technology. We bring together insight and expertise from across the business community and turn what works into practical support that SME leaders can use in their businesses.
We’re a small, collaborative and ambitious team where everyone has the opportunity to make a big impact. Our work is practical, fast-moving and varied, and we give people the freedom and responsibility to shape ideas, build partnerships and turn them into programmes that make a real difference to businesses across the UK.

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on marketing and lead generation specialist to own and develop Be the Business’s pipeline of opportunities with big businesses and corporates through campaigns, outreach, lead nurturing and relationship-building. This is a B2B marketing role calls for someone who is as comfortable building a campaign as they are working a lead through to a booked meeting.
You’ll take direction from the CEO and Head of Finance & Operations on campaign priorities, work closely with the CEO on live sales activity - nurturing leads through to a first meeting and beyond - and partner with our Systems and Processes Lead to keep lead generation activity running as efficiently as possible.
Key responsibilities
Marketing & lead generation
- Own end-to-end lead generation activity targeting corporates and larger organisations, from initial identification through to qualified leads
- Plan and run marketing campaigns, taking direction from the CEO and Head of Operations on priorities, themes and target sectors
- Use Tussell and other market intelligence/outreach tools to identify, research and prioritise prospective corporate partners
- Build and maintain a structured, consistent outreach cadence across email, LinkedIn and other relevant channels
- Develop and manage a comprehensive corporate contact database, using data and insight to deepen our understanding of customer needs, priorities and engagement and inform targeted marketing activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
