Senior Hardware & Electrical Design Engineer

Capula is looking for a Senior Hardware & Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of major projects across the UK Energy Generation, Storage, Transmission and Distribution sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects, delivering high-quality hardware, secondary systems and LV electrical designs from concept through to testing and commissioning.

What You'll Be Doing

  • βœ… Producing and reviewing engineering drawings and designs using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or similar
  • βœ… Delivering Protection & Control panel, LVAC/DC, battery and UPS system designs
  • βœ… Creating SLDs, KLDs, schematics, cable schedules and technical documentation
  • βœ… Supporting substation automation, communications and IEC 61850-based solutions
  • βœ… Developing Bills of Materials and supporting manufacture and installation activities
  • βœ… Assisting with FAT, site testing and commissioning support
  • βœ… Collaborating with clients, suppliers, Project Managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams

What We're Looking For

  • βœ” Strong experience in hardware, secondary systems or LV design within HV substations
  • βœ” Knowledge of Protection & Control systems and transmission-level plant interfaces
  • βœ” Experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent design tools
  • βœ” Understanding of IEC 61850 and substation communications
  • βœ” Ability to deliver accurate, high-quality engineering documentation
  • βœ” Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • βœ” Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required

Desirable

  • βž• Experience within UK Transmission and Distribution projects
  • βž• Installation, testing or commissioning experience
  • βž• Knowledge of BS7671, SCADA or substation automation systems
  • βž• Awareness of OT cyber security standards
  • βž• Working towards IEng or CEng status
