The Role
Are you a caring, motivated individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care? As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients and clinical colleagues to ensure safe, effective and person-centred care. Working under the guidance of Registered Nurses and Midwives, you will undertake a wide range of clinical and non-clinical duties that make a meaningful difference to patients and their families every day. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Full-time, Permanent
- Location: You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Working Pattern: Mon Fri, 08:30 16:30
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a range of delegated patient care activities to support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care
- Monitor and report changes in patients' physical or psychological wellbeing to Registered Nurses or Midwives
- Undertake clinical tasks including patient observations, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, blood pressure monitoring and wound care activities
- Assist with the safe transfer, movement and positioning of patients while promoting dignity and comfort at all times
- Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to effective communication across the multidisciplinary team
- Support housekeeping, stock control and equipment checks to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and colleagues while promoting a compassionate and professional approach

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant or significant experience and training
- Relevant or significant experience providing care and support within a healthcare, care or community setting
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with good literacy, numeracy and IT abilities
- Understanding of person-centred care and the importance of dignity, respect, confidentiality and compassion
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control, health and safety practices and professional standards relevant to the role
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing allocated responsibilities
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development to maintain and enhance knowledge, skills and competencies throughout your career with NHSGGC
