Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Health Economist to join our Health Economics and Data Analysis practice area. This role is primarily focused on the design, development, validation, and communication of health economic evidence to support pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients across product development, market access, reimbursement, and health technology assessment (HTA).
The successful candidate will lead the delivery of complex health economic modelling projects, provide technical oversight to project teams, and contribute to the development of innovative methodologies and analytical approaches. While client interaction and project leadership are important aspects of the role, the primary focus is on technical excellence and scientific rigour.
Your key activities will include (but not be limited to):
Health Economic Project Delivery
- Lead the development of high-quality health economic models, including:
- Cost-effectiveness models
- Cost-utility models
- Budget impact models
- Cost-consequence analyses
- Early economic models
- Design model structures appropriate to clinical and decision-making contexts.
- Critically evaluate clinical, epidemiological, utility, resource use, and cost data for incorporation into models.
- Conduct deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analyses and scenario analyses.
- Develop and implement validation, testing, and quality control procedures.
- Prepare technical documentation, model reports, user guides, and methodological justification documents.
- Ensure all deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy, transparency, and scientific integrity.
Technical Leadership
- Act as the technical lead on assigned projects.
- Provide methodological guidance to analysts and other project team members.
- Review modelling work and written deliverables produced by junior colleagues.
- Establish best practices in modelling, validation, and quality assurance.
- Contribute to the development of standard methodologies, templates, and technical processes across the practice.
Mentoring and Capability Building
- Coach and mentor analysts and health economists.
- Deliver technical training in modelling methods, health economics, and analytic best practice.
- Support the professional development of more junior team members through project-based coaching and formal training programmes.

Business Development Support
- Contribute technical expertise to proposals and pitch materials.
- Participate in study design discussions with prospective clients.
- Provide methodological input into project scoping and budgeting activities.
- Support the development of thought leadership, conference presentations, and scientific publications.
About You
Essential Skills
- MSc, MPhil, PhD or equivalent qualification in Health Economics, Economics, Operational Research, Biostatistics, Public Health, Pharmacy, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Extensive experience in health economic modelling within a consultancy, pharmaceutical company, HTA body, or related healthcare setting.
- Advanced understanding of:
- Cost-effectiveness analysis
- Decision analytic modelling
- Markov and partitioned survival models
- Budget impact modelling
- Sensitivity analysis techniques
- HTA requirements across major markets
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong quality control and technical review capabilities.
- Experience using one or more of: Excel/VBA, R, Python, other statistical software packages.
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting NICE, JCAs, CADTH, PBAC, ICER, G-BA or other HTA submissions.
- Experience with survival analysis and advanced statistical methods.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience presenting health economic findings to payer or HTA audiences.
- Familiarity with evidence synthesis methodologies.
