Location: Potters Bar, Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to GBP60,000 per annum + Car Allowance

The Opportunity
Hill McGlynn are currently working with an established construction contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor / Senior HSEQ Advisor to join their team, based from their Potters Bar office and supporting projects across the business.
Reporting directly to the HSEQ Director, this is a senior, hands–on position responsible for monitoring the implementation of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures across live construction projects.
You will undertake regular site inspections and audits, support the delivery of HSEQ initiatives and campaigns, and work closely with project teams to identify areas for improvement and ensure consistently high standards are maintained.
The successful candidate will be an experienced HSEQ professional who is confident proactively engaging with project teams, challenging standards where necessary and helping to drive a positive HSEQ culture throughout the business.
The Role
As Senior HSEQ Advisor, you will work closely with the HSEQ Director and operational teams, providing senior–level HSEQ support and guidance across the company's project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Monitoring the implementation of company HSEQ policies, procedures and standards across live projects.
- Undertaking regular site inspections and HSEQ audits and producing clear reports on findings.
- Identifying non–conformances, risks and areas for improvement and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Providing practical HSEQ advice and guidance to Project Managers, Site Managers and wider operational teams.
- Proactively engaging with project teams to drive improvements in HSEQ performance.
- Supporting the development and implementation of HSEQ initiatives, campaigns and improvement programmes.
- Promoting a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture across all projects.
- Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures and project–specific requirements.
- Reviewing risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Supporting and, where required, leading incident and near–miss investigations.
- Monitoring trends across projects and recommending actions to improve performance.
- Supporting toolbox talks, briefings and HSEQ communications.
- Working with subcontractors to ensure required HSEQ standards are understood and maintained.
- Providing regular reports and updates to the HSEQ Director.
- Supporting project teams with complex or higher–risk HSEQ matters.
- Maintaining accurate inspection, audit and compliance records.
- Contributing to the continuous development of company HSEQ systems and procedures.
- Maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive company and project information.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional who has operated at Senior HSEQ Advisor or Senior Health & Safety Advisor level within the construction industry.
You Will Ideally Have
- Significant experience within a Health & Safety / HSEQ position in the construction industry.
- Previous experience operating at Senior Advisor level or the ability to demonstrate the experience required to step into a senior position.
- Strong experience carrying out site inspections and formal HSEQ audits.
- Excellent knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and construction industry requirements.
- Experience monitoring and implementing company HSEQ policies and procedures.
- Strong experience identifying non–conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- The confidence and technical knowledge to challenge unsafe practices professionally and constructively.
- A proactive, hands–on approach to improving HSEQ standards.
- Experience supporting or leading incident investigations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder–management skills, with the ability to influence project and site teams.
- Excellent report–writing, record–keeping and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage HSEQ responsibilities across multiple projects.
- A professional approach with the ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity and discretion.
- A relevant Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Construction or equivalent would be highly advantageous.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IOSH would be advantageous.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous due to regular project visits.
