About The Role

Balfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team, supporting a variety of power projects across the UK.

This role will be responsible for leading and developing a team of three Health and Safety Advisors across projects in Wales, the North Wessex Downs and London. Each week, the Senior Advisor will spend time within these regions, working alongside Advisors to provide mentoring, coaching, and professional support.

Due to the geographical spread of the projects, the base location for this role is flexible. However, the successful candidate must be willing to travel regularly on a weekly basis. A company car will be provided, and all business travel expenses will be reimbursed. This is a hybrid role, combining site visits, regional travel, and home working.

The Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will provide expert HS&W advice, guidance, and support to project teams, helping to embed a positive culture where health is given the same priority as safety. The role will involve proactively identifying emerging trends, analyzing performance data, and sharing insights with management teams to drive continuous improvement and implement effective health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Implement Business Unit Zero Harm strategy through visible leadership to drive the delivery of the Zero Harm Action Plan, to help embed a culture where health is treated like safety.
  • Provide project teams with expert HS&W technical advice, guidance, and support.
  • Collaboratively engage with both internal & external customers and the supply chain to promote zero harm delivery.
  • In conjunction with operational management, complete a local and bespoke risk-based Service Level Agreement with each project which is kept under quarterly review to provide assurance that the project is compliant with HS&W requirements of UK regulatory framework and the UK Business Management System (BMS).
  • Undertake regular site inspections as per project risk matrix and produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record planned & unplanned HS&W inspections.
  • Undertakes regular checks on Health and Safety Risk Management ensuring that appropriate risks and opportunities have been identified and are being implemented.
  • Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents, and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and BMS requirements.
  • Support work-winning teams with quality HS&W responses for bids, proposals, and PQQs for future projects.
  • Engage and develop relationships with design & engineering teams to eliminate and reduce HS&W risk through design.
  • Challenge the norm by innovating and improving the way we work, whilst keeping pace with industry change and promote successes.
  • Provide support and mentoring to other HS&W colleagues in their development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
