Responsibilities

• Lead on the rollout and embedding of the Health and Safety elements of the SSW Strategy at a project level.
• Act as the day-to-day project lead for health and safety.
• Promote the organisation’s vision and values to internal and external stakeholders, including the vision of Safe, Sustainability and Wellbeing.
• Ensure that policies and procedures reflect current health and safety legislation.
• Ensure health and safety processes and procedures forming part of the H&S Management System are implemented across projects and offices.
• Review, update and produce Health and Safety documentation for the Management System as required.
• Provide support, guidance and advice to both office and site locations on health and safety matters, in line with H&S policies and procedures.
• Work with the SSW team to deliver continuous improvement across the business and projects.
• Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and provide support with investigations in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Ensure all health and safety lessons learned are communicated to the SSW Team and wider business.
• Ensure all H&S reporting requirements are accurately provided to the Head of Operational Health & Safety.
• Conduct site safety inspections and audits, ensuring any resulting action plans are communicated to Project Managers and subsequently implemented on project sites.
• Conduct regular reviews of corrective actions arising from incidents, inspections and audits.
• Support internal and external audit programmes.
• Provide technical assistance to Project Managers and the Head of Operational Health & Safety.
• Conduct Toolbox Talks, brief safety alerts and assist with Client and Tier 1 briefings when required.
• Provide coaching and instruction to employees and contractors regarding health and safety.
• Conduct health and safety training as required.
• Attend and provide health and safety input at business and project meetings.
• Communicate with the Head of Operational Health & Safety on matters relating to health, safety and environment, including updates on the reporting system.
• Line manage other H&S Advisors.
