An exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Health Care Assistant to join our team on Acute Speciality Medicine.
These positions are across Acute Speciality Medicine. We have vacancies within Health and Aging wards, Respiratory, Gastroenterology and our Medical Assessment Unit. Whilst completing the role as a Senior Healthcare assistant you will be required to assist under supervision in the delivery of fundamental nursing care in liaison with the multidisciplinary team. To contribute to the implementation and progression of a range of patient treatment and care programmes as delegated by a registered healthcare practitioner; reporting back on progress.

Role Overview
The Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant plays a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care under the direction of registered practitioners. The post holder supports patients with activities of daily living, promotes independence, monitors and records clinical observations, assists with nutrition and hydration, supports admissions and discharges, and contributes to maintaining accurate patient records. They also undertake a range of delegated clinical skills, including ECG recording, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, cannulation, catheter removal and simple wound care, following appropriate training and competency assessment.

In addition to direct patient care, the role contributes to the safe and effective running of the clinical environment by maintaining infection prevention standards, ensuring equipment and stock are available and safe to use, supporting enhanced observations, preparing clinical areas, and assisting with operational tasks. The post holder works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, provides compassionate support to patients and families, including those who are distressed or bereaved, and demonstrates respect for the diverse cultural, religious and individual needs of all patients while ensuring care is delivered in line with Trust policies and professional standards.
