About The Role

Join NHS Golden Jubilee's Orthopaedic Nursing Team

NHS Golden Jubilee is looking for a motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our dedicated Orthopaedic team within 4 East Orthopaedics. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Support Worker to develop their skills within Scotland's leading national elective orthopaedic centre.

The role supports both clinical and non-clinical care delivery, working closely with Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.

As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their care journey, contributing to a positive patient experience while ensuring the highest standards of safety, dignity and compassion are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Registered Nurses in delivering high-quality patient care, including personal care, skin care and assistance with nutrition and hydration.
  • Monitor and record routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels.
  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges and transfers under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Undertake a range of enhanced clinical duties including venepuncture, ECG recording, wound care, MRSA screening and urinalysis.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Support housekeeping and environmental duties to maintain a safe and clean clinical environment.
  • Assist With Clerical, Portering And Administrative Responsibilities As Required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and help ensure excellent patient outcomes and experiences.

About You

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Experience working within a clinical healthcare environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Competence in monitoring vital signs, wound care and venepuncture.
  • An understanding of Data Protection, Caldicott principles and patient confidentiality.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A genuine interest in supporting patients, relatives and colleagues.

Experience supporting colleagues within a healthcare setting would be advantageous.
