The Role
I’m working with an established consultancy with a strong reputation across the South West, who are expanding their highways team to accommodate a growing portfolio of ongoing and incoming projects with household-name clients across the region.
They’re looking for an experienced Senior or Principal Highway Design Engineer who wants to take on greater responsibility, work alongside highly experienced engineers and develop quickly within a business that is continuing to grow.
You’ll be working across a varied portfolio of highway, traffic and infrastructure projects, with the opportunity to take ownership of work from preliminary design through to detailed design.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver highway design across residential, commercial and preliminary road schemes
- Develop highway layouts and associated infrastructure designs
- Use Site3D for highway and drainage design
- Use Civil 3D across highways and wider infrastructure projects
- Work across related sectors including rail, pipelines and deep corridor modelling
- Contribute to traffic and wider infrastructure design
- Coordinate with highways, traffic, landscape and other technical disciplines
- Manage your own design packages and project deliverables
- Liaise with clients and project teams throughout the design process
- Review technical work and support junior engineers
- Help maintain high technical and quality standards across the team

You’ll be expected to:
- Take ownership of your work and deliver to a high standard
- Have strong practical experience in highway design
- Be confident using Civil 3D and Site3D
- Understand the wider requirements around highways, traffic and drainage
- Communicate confidently with clients and colleagues
- Support and develop the existing team of around 4–5 engineers
- Share your technical knowledge and contribute to the development of others
- Take on increasing responsibility as your experience and the business develop
