Tumu Consulting Ltd is a growing civil engineering consultancy based in Bristol, delivering infrastructure design, flood risk assessment, and sustainable drainage solutions for residential and commercial developments across the UK. The team supports clients throughout the development lifecycle, from initial site acquisition and feasibility through planning and detailed design stages. Tumu Consulting focuses on practical, buildable designs that balance technical rigor with commercial realities. The consultancy offers opportunities to work on diverse projects and collaborate closely with developers, planners, and multidisciplinary design teams.
Role Description
The Senior Highway or Infrastructure Engineer will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of on-site and off-site highways and civil infrastructure for a range of development projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Producing and reviewing design drawings and calculations
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
- Preparing technical reports and supporting documentation for planning applications
- Mentoring junior engineers
- Overseeing quality of design outputs
- Ensuring compliance with relevant UK standards and regulations
- Assisting in project planning
- Managing workloads to meet deadlines
- Supporting client meetings and design workshops
This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Central Bristol, United Kingdom.

Essential Skills
- Strong infrastructure design experience for residential developments.
- S278 Highway Design/Access Design
- S38 Highway Alignment Design using Causeway PDS
- Pavement Design - Build-ups & Kerbing Layouts
- Junction & Roundabout Design
- Road Sign & Line Design
- Exception Report Responses to RSAs & S38 Reviews
- Ability to troubleshoot complex design and construction issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and liaise effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- HNC or BEng Civil Engineering
