Senior Hire Controller – Haydock

Location: Haydock, Merseyside
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Hire Controller to join our busy team based in Haydock.

As a Senior Hire Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our hire operations, delivering excellent customer service and supporting the wider team to achieve operational and commercial targets.

You'll be the go-to person for customer enquiries, hire requirements and day-to-day challenges, using your experience to support colleagues, build strong customer relationships and ensure we consistently deliver a first-class service.

This is a great opportunity for someone with hire industry experience who enjoys taking ownership, supporting others and working in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing customer hire enquiries, bookings, off-hires and equipment availability.
  • Providing a high standard of customer service, ensuring enquiries are handled efficiently and professionally.
  • Supporting and mentoring Hire Controllers, sharing knowledge and best practice across the team.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, colleagues and operational teams.
  • Coordinating equipment movements and working closely with depots to meet customer requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise hire revenue, improve utilisation and support business growth.
  • Resolving customer queries and escalations, ensuring issues are dealt with promptly and effectively.
  • Ensuring hire contracts, documentation and internal systems are accurate and up to date.
  • Supporting the management team with day-to-day operational activities, performance and service improvements.
  • Promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with company procedures.

What We're Looking For

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • Previous experience in a Hire Controller, Senior Hire Controller or similar role, ideally within the plant, tool or equipment hire industry.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to make decisions.
  • Experience supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge within a team.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of hire processes.
  • Confidence using computer systems and managing administrative processes accurately.
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive, professional approach.
