About the role
As a Senior Homepage and App Publisher, you'll ensure the Telegraph website and app homepages present a compelling offer for our audience by selecting stories, writing headlines and choosing pictures that engage readers.
Working across a seven-day rota, you'll be part of a team responsible for responding quickly to the news agenda and ensuring that content on the digital front page of the Telegraph meets the standards expected of a world class news publisher.
Key responsibilities
- Present stories, as directed by the on-duty editor, in the most compelling way on the Telegraph homepage and app
- Ensure the presentation of the homepage and app reflects the interests of our subscribers and potential subscribers and is in line with the tone and consistency expected of the Telegraph brand.
- Work with the pictures desk and design team to select the right images and produce brilliant, innovative illustrations for the homepage
- Send lively and eye-catching notifications for breaking stories and top-performing features to the Telegraph app and other platforms that host our content
- Send Breaking News emails when appropriate
- Edit App and Homepage on a weekend shift
- Liaise regularly with other desks about their forthcoming content and how best to promote and display it.
- Monitor analytics to understand what is performing well and what could be improved

Key skills
- Experience of working on a homepage at a quality news website, national or regional newspaper or broadcaster - particularly within a breaking news environment
- Sound news and picture judgement and understanding of the news agenda
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure across many different areas at once
- Ability to write headlines with a variety of tones
- Experience working as part of a big team.
- An understanding of the Telegraph audience and subscription model
- Expertise in digital publishing
