Job Description: Housekeeper in Neonatal Unit

We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and hardworking Housekeeper to join our Neonatal Unit team. As an integral member of the Nursing team, you will work across all areas of the Neonatal Unit, helping to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and infection prevention.

Role Overview

  • Working Under: Direction of the nurse in charge.
  • Supervision: Supervise the nursery support workers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with facilities, stores, linen services, estates, porters, company representatives, milk bank, and milk preparation team.
  • Skills Required: Good communication and organizational skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to plan and manage your own workload.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the delivery of environmental cleaning.
  • Manage and order stores.
  • Manage linen.
  • Clean medical equipment.
  • Conduct quality assurance auditing.

Job Requirements

  • Teamwork: Must get on well with people and work effectively as a team member.
  • Communication: Always behave in a professional manner and communicate effectively and sensitively with parents, families, and visitors.
  • Physical Activity: This is a physically active job, requiring frequent standing, a range of physical activities, and prolonged moderate physical exercise, including bending down and lifting and handling of clinical supplies and equipment.

Additional Expectations

  • Work independently but in collaboration with your fellow Senior Housekeeper.
  • Provide 7-day a week housekeeper cover for the neonatal unit.
  • Supervise the Nursery Support Worker team, ensuring compliance with all relevant procedures, infection control policies, and legislation.
  • Monitor quality standards, report deficiencies, and take appropriate action to the nurse in charge.
