Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and experienced Senior Housekeeping Supervisor to join our dedicated Hotel Services team in Frimley. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient safety and experience by ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and customer service are maintained across our hospital sites.

We are seeking a motivated and organised Senior Housekeeping Supervisor to join our dedicated Hotel Services team and play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead housekeeping teams across wards, departments, and public areas, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness are consistently achieved. Your work will directly contribute to patient safety, infection prevention, and the overall quality of care provided across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Housekeeping Supervisor, you will support the Housekeeping Manager in the daily operational delivery of housekeeping services across the Trust. You will provide visible leadership, coordinate resources, and ensure services are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.

Working closely with clinical teams, Facilities colleagues, and Infection Prevention and Control specialists, you will help create environments where patients can receive care safely and comfortably.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

In this rewarding role, you will:

  • Lead and support housekeeping teams across multiple clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness, Infection Prevention and Control requirements, and Trust policies.
  • Coordinate staffing resources to meet service demands and maintain service continuity.
  • Carry out cleanliness audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of service issues, incidents, and complaints.
  • Monitor performance standards and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Promote excellent customer service and maintain a positive patient experience.
  • Support recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of housekeeping staff.
  • Manage attendance, annual leave, wellbeing discussions, and return-to-work processes.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an enthusiastic leader who can motivate others, communicate effectively, and thrive in a busy healthcare environment.

You Will Ideally Have

  • Previous supervisory experience within healthcare, hospitality, facilities management, hotel services, or a similar customer-focused setting.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding of infection prevention and control principles.
  • Experience supporting staff development, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • A commitment to high standards, patient safety, and quality improvement.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays to meet service requirements.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Good basic education/GCSE level

Desirable criteria

  • Formal qualification in cleaning services/ Facilities Management, or Housekeeping.
  • Achieved NVQ in Supervisor training

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of supervising staff within a housekeeping, cleaning, facilities, hospitality, or healthcare environment.
  • Experience of cleaning systems, procedures, and infection prevention and control standards.
  • Experience of allocating work, monitoring performance, and maintaining service standards.
  • Experience of undertaking audits, inspections, or quality checks.
  • Experience of dealing with day-to-day staffing issues and service delivery challenges.
  • Professional Housekeeping experience

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of managing complaints, service concerns, or customer feedback.
  • Experience of sickness absence monitoring and return-to-work processes.
  • Experience of recruitment, induction, and staff training.
  • Experience within an NHS or healthcare environment.
  • Experience of stock control, resource allocation, or budget monitoring.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Working knowledge of COSHH and safe chemical management.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate individuals.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with individuals and manage expectations.
  • Ability to effectively performance manage staff.
  • IT skills include Microsoft Word and Excel to intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of NHS National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.
  • Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control principles within a healthcare setting.
  • Level 2 Food Safety and Food Allergen Awareness
  • Knowledge of IT systems: ESR, HealthRoster, Audim, or similar workforce and audit systems.
  • Committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards.
