MADE Careers is working with a leading architecture and design practice looking to appoint a Senior Architect with strong UK housing experience to join its London team.
This is a project leadership role working across large scale residential and mixed tenure housing schemes in London and across the UK, with a particular focus on well designed housing at scale.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely understands the UK housing sector from residential typologies and planning through to technical coordination, buildability and delivery; and who is confident taking responsibility within complex multidisciplinary project teams.
The Role
You’ll work across significant housing led developments, contributing to both their design and delivery while coordinating closely with clients, consultants, contractors and local authorities.
The role needs someone who can combine strong design judgement with the technical understanding required to deliver large residential schemes successfully, with Revit forming a key part of the day to day role.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop design proposals for large scale residential and mixed tenure housing schemes
- Work across projects of 100+ homes
- Produce and oversee coordinated architectural information in Revit
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams and technical information
- Contribute to planning submissions, design reports and client presentations
- Work confidently with clients, consultants, contractors and local authorities
- Ensure designs respond to relevant housing policy, planning guidance and regulatory requirements
- Support projects through design development and technical delivery
- Balance design quality with buildability, sustainability and commercial requirements
- Support and mentor wider architectural project teams

Requirements
- Strong UK residential and housing experience
- Experience working on large-scale housing schemes of 100+ homes
- Good understanding of mixed-tenure housing and residential typologies
- Strong design and technical ability
- Advanced Revit skills
- Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations
- Knowledge of London planning requirements and residential design standards
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
- Confident managing complex architectural and technical information
- Strong client-facing and communication skills
- Experience taking a senior role within project teams
- ARB registration strongly preferred
- Affordable housing experience would be particularly relevant

Why This Role
This is particularly suited to a Senior Architect whose experience is firmly within large scale UK housing rather than bespoke private residential.
You’ll be joining an established team with a strong pipeline of residential work, taking a senior role across the design, coordination and delivery of complex housing schemes while continuing to develop your project leadership experience.
You must already have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship isn’t available for this position.
