Can you demonstrate strong commercial involvement in new-business tenders, contract renewals and customer partnerships?

Are you comfortable influencing Business Unit Directors while leading major change, talent and organisational effectiveness programmes?

MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading international logistics organisation on the search for a Senior HR Business Partner. This is a permanent, regionally focused role covering the East Midlands, with regular travel across operational and customer locations.

Reporting to the Head of HR, this is a senior strategic and commercially focused position with responsibility for leading an HR Business Partnering team and shaping the people agenda across a significant Contract Logistics business area.

Operating as a trusted partner to Business Unit Directors and their senior leadership teams, you will ensure the people strategy supports operational delivery, organisational capability and profitable growth. The role also has a major external and commercial dimension, supporting customer relationships, contract renewals, organic growth and new-business tenders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Business Partners, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service across the business.
  • Partner Business Unit Directors and senior leadership teams to shape and deliver strategic people plans.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction across talent, engagement, organisational design, performance, reward and complex employee relations.
  • Lead the people agenda for new-business opportunities, contract mobilisations, renewals and organic growth.
  • Support the tender process from initial RFQ through to customer presentation and implementation.
  • Build credible relationships with customers and identify people solutions that enhance commercial performance.
  • Lead complex organisational change, TUPE, restructuring and business transformation programmes.
  • Manage collective bargaining, industrial disputes and senior Trade Union relationships.
  • Evaluate the commercial implications of people decisions, including settlements, severance arrangements and organisational changes.
  • Use HR data and performance metrics to identify workforce risks, operational trends and opportunities.
  • Strengthen succession planning, talent pipelines and senior leadership capability.
  • Lead HR improvement projects and develop more efficient, commercially relevant ways of working.
  • Work closely with HR Centres of Excellence, Shared Services, Business Development and Project Management teams.
  • Represent the HR function at senior leadership, customer and external industry forums.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
