HR Business Partner
Location: North - East - Sunderland / Newcastle location
Sector: Engineering
Salary: £70,000 + Benefits
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused HR Business Partner to join a growing engineering business near Newcastle. This is a true generalist role, partnering with operational and leadership teams to deliver an effective people strategy that supports business performance, employee engagement, and organisational growth.
Working closely with leaders across engineering, operations, and support functions, you will provide expert HR advice, lead people initiatives, manage complex employee relations matters, and drive learning and development activity across your client group.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering
- Partner with leaders to understand business priorities and provide proactive HR support.
- Coach and challenge managers to improve leadership capability and people management practices.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, and organisational development initiatives.
- Use people data and insights to identify trends and recommend solutions.

Employee Relations
- Lead and advise on a wide range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management, and flexible working cases.
- Support managers through investigations, hearings, and appeals.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and best practice.
- Identify ER trends and implement preventative solutions.
Learning & Development
- Work with managers to identify capability gaps and development needs.
- Support the design and delivery of learning and development initiatives across the business.
- Coordinate management and leadership development programmes.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and career development.

- Support recruitment activities and on-boarding processes.
- Contribute to change management, restructuring, and organisational design projects.
- Support annual HR processes including performance reviews, salary reviews, and engagement initiatives.
- Drive employee engagement and well-being activities across the site.
About You
- Previous experience in a HR Business Partner role supporting multiple sites or offices
- Strong employment law knowledge and employee relations expertise.
- Experience partnering with operational leaders and managing diverse stakeholder groups.
