Senior HR Consultant

Belfast - Hybrid or Part-time - Min 4 days per week in office.

Discover Your Potential.

Build Your Career.

We're a growing professional services group supporting individuals, family businesses and organisations across the UK and beyond. Our specialisms span the full range of business advisory work — from finance and tax through to people, payroll and talent consultancy — and we work with clients as they grow, from ambitious start-ups to established, scaling businesses.

We believe our people come first. We build strong client relationships through genuine partnership, straightforward advice and a real understanding of what our clients need. We invest heavily in our team, offering structured training, support toward professional qualifications, and plenty of room to grow into new challenges as your career develops.

We're also committed to doing right by our communities and the environment, with active volunteering, training and sustainability programmes running throughout the business.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Senior HR Consultant to join our people consultancy team, on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 4 days per week). We're looking for someone who holds, or is working towards, a Level 7 Advanced CIPD accreditation (or equivalent), with solid experience operating in a strategic HR capacity.

About the Team

We're a dedicated people consultancy, helping client organisations with everything from HR and employee relations to health & safety and talent development. Our specialists work closely with each client to really understand their business, then tailor support around what they actually need — whether that's advice on a single issue or ongoing partnership as their HR function scales.

We're proud to work with some of the most ambitious and fast-growing businesses in the country, and being part of a larger advisory group means we can also call on specialist expertise from across finance and other business disciplines when clients need it.

Above everything, our approach comes down to our people — we look for driven, curious individuals and give them the platform to become genuine experts in their field, which is a big part of why we've been recognised for the quality of our team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity for someone building their HR career (roughly 4+ years' experience) who's currently in an internal HR role and wants to move into consultancy, where you're working directly with a portfolio of clients and giving commercial, practical advice rather than sitting inside one organisation. Equally, it would suit someone already in a consultancy setting who's looking for a smaller, closer-knit team with real scope to grow.

You'll need a solid grounding in HR and employment law, but just as importantly, the appetite to keep developing, build relationships quickly, and support a varied client base across different sectors.

No two days look the same. Our clients sit at very different stages of growth — some just starting out, others established SMEs, scale-ups or larger organisations — so the role calls for someone comfortable being both proactive and reactive to deliver a consistently excellent service.

Day to day, you can expect to be:

  • Giving commercially minded, practical advice on day-to-day HR and employment issues, with a strong focus on employee relations.
  • Working with clients to review and improve their existing HR setup, recommending and helping implement new tools, processes and ways of working.
  • Advising management teams on applying HR policy in practice, and supporting them to recruit, onboard and manage new starters.
  • Helping clients build inclusive, values-led cultures and working environments.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members, and acting as a first point of contact for HR queries and management guidance.
  • Preparing documentation to support client processes such as onboarding, appraisals, probation, absence management, employee relations cases, benefits administration, contracts and offboarding.
  • Reviewing and refreshing template toolkits and client-facing documentation.

What You'll Bring

  • At least 4 years of applied HR and employee relations experience, including a working knowledge of relevant employment legislation, and the ability to turn that into clear, practical guidance for clients.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues simply and without jargon, tailored to what each client actually needs.
  • Sharp questioning and listening skills to properly understand a client's situation before proposing a solution.
  • A flexible, consultative style — commercially minded and genuinely client-focused when solving problems.
  • The ability to build trust and rapport quickly, both with clients and colleagues.
  • Discretion and a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • A proactive, improvement-minded approach to developing new tools and ways of working.
  • A responsive, service-oriented mindset — you'll often be representing the business directly to clients.
  • A genuine interest in continuous learning and professional development.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and other office locations as needed.
  • CIPD qualification (or working towards one).
  • Experience with HR system implementation would be a bonus.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car, as the role involves regular travel to clients.
