Senior HR Advisor
At Arbuthnot Latham, our people are at the heart of our success. We're looking for an experienced HR professional to join us from around the beginning of December on a 12-month fixed-term contract as a Senior HR Advisor, where you'll act as a trusted partner to managers and colleagues across the Group. This is an opportunity to take ownership of sensitive employee relations matters, provide expert guidance on people management, and play a key role in shaping policies, projects and initiatives that support our collaborative, relationship-led culture. Working closely with HR Business Partners and senior stakeholders, you'll help ensure our people practices remain fair, pragmatic and aligned to our values.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees, providing advice on HR policies and a broad range of employee relations matters including performance, conduct, absence, flexible working, parental leave, grievances and leavers.
- Independently manage formal employee relations cases from initial enquiry through to resolution, providing pragmatic guidance and ensuring fair, consistent application of policy and employment legislation.
- Coach and support managers on people management matters, helping to build capability and confidence across the business.
- Support organisational change activities, including restructures and redundancies, and manage company-sponsored visa applications.
- Produce and analyse employee relations, onboarding and exit interview MI, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Work closely with HR Business Partners on higher-risk cases, people plans and business initiatives, while acting as an escalation point for complex advisory queries.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
