Are you an experienced Senior HR Business Partner with strong trade union experience looking for your next interim opportunity within local government?

My client is a well-known London borough serving a diverse community and delivering a wide range of essential public services. The organisation is currently going through a busy period of change and is strengthening its HR Business Partnering function to provide high-quality, consistent and commercially focused HR support across the council.

Reporting to the Director of HR, this is a broad and varied HR Business Partnering role that will require someone who can quickly build credibility, work at pace and provide pragmatic HR advice and support. You will work across both strategic and operational HR matters while helping to develop a collaborative and consistent approach across the newly developing HR Business Partnering team.

The Senior HR Business Partner position is an initial 6-month interim contract paying £450 per day, inside IR35. The organisation operates a hybrid working model, with an expectation of 2 days per week in the office in South-West London.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
