I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity
This is an opportunity to join at an exciting point in the organisation’s evolution. The role itself has been reshaped and elevated because the business needs more than traditional operational HR support. They’re looking for someone who can become a genuine strategic partner to the leadership team while retaining the operational credibility to understand what is happening across the business.
You’ll be predominantly aligned to the Birmingham site, with flexibility to work in a hybrid way and travel to operational locations across the UK when required.
If you’re a commercially minded senior People professional who enjoys being close to the business, can hold your own around a senior leadership table and thrives in organisations going through growth and change, we’d love to hear from you.
