Senior HR Manager - 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Isio is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our Employment, Policy and HR Services team in Manchester. Reporting to the Head of HR Services, you will provide expert advice across the employee lifecycle, lead on complex employee relations and employment law matters, and help strengthen the policies, insight and services that support our people and business.
You will work closely with HR Business Partners, senior leaders and colleagues across the HR function, with a particular focus on Wealth, Private Office and Employee Benefits. The role combines strategic influence with hands-on delivery and includes line management, team development and support for organisational change and M&A activity.
What you'll do
- Lead on complex and high-risk employee relations cases, providing clear, pragmatic advice that balances colleague, legal, reputational and commercial considerations.
- Act as a senior escalation point for HR colleagues and advise HR Business Partners and business leaders on employment law, policy and organisational risk.
- Draw on extensive experience to lead TUPE and M&A activity from an HR perspective, including employment law, policy and contract harmonisation.
- Lead on risk assessment across all business units which is imperative given current employment law landscape and increasing ER cases in the business.
- Liaise with the business and HRBPs on restructures and strategic people initiatives.
- Use case data and management information to identify trends, cultural risks and opportunities for improvement, including oversight of the employee relations dashboard.
- Shape, review and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent practice and alignment with business needs and risk appetite.
- Manage, coach and develop HR colleagues, setting high standards for case management, service delivery and professional growth.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and collaborate across Recruitment, Reward, Payroll, and the wider HR function.
- Contribute to operational delivery, reporting and continuous improvement across the employee lifecycle.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
