Join us and help secure Britain's energy.
About the role
As a Senior HV Electrical Technician at St Fergus Gas Terminal, you'll provide specialist HV engineering support across one of the UK's most strategically important gas terminals. You'll help ensure critical electrical and compressor assets operate safely, reliably, and efficiently, supporting energy security today while helping prepare the network for tomorrow's energy system.
You'll be part of our Scotland & North region, working within the Electrical Maintenance department. Alongside your HV responsibilities, you'll also support a range of electrical maintenance activities across the site, including LV electrical systems and equipment, helping to maintain the safe and reliable operation of terminal assets.
Why this role matters
St Fergus is a key entry point for gas supplies into Great Britain, helping to connect gas from the UK Continental Shelf and Norway into the National Transmission System. The safe and reliable operation of the terminal is essential to maintaining energy security and the resilience of the UK's energy network.
As a Senior HV Electrical Technician, you'll play a vital role in keeping critical assets available, responding to operational challenges, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the terminal. Your expertise will directly influence safety, reliability, and operational performance while helping National Gas deliver the energy needs of today and support the transition to a cleaner energy future.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
