Senior HV Engineer (Derbyshire)

Within our Transmission & Distribution team, we deliver mission-critical design packages that transform the reliability, availability, and efficiency of the energy network, moving it towards a greener, more sustainable future. Department highlights include:
High Voltage design and delivery: We design AIS and GIS substations from 11kV to 245kV and contestable build and non-contestable stations. Connections include conventional and renewable Power Generation, Peaking, Battery Storage and Solar PV plants and large demand loads such as data centres and process plants.
Low Voltage and Instrumentation design: NeoDyne is a gas network design framework supplier, playing a significant role in providing electrical and instrumentation engineering services for the on-shore Natural Gas Industry and Regulated gas utility sector in Ireland and the UK. Our expertise includes Compressor Station, AGI Electrical & Instrumentation design, Fiscal and non-Fiscal metering, and Cathodic Protection.
With a team of 220+ skilled engineers, our expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from design and implementation to commissioning and operations. From our offices in Ireland, the UK, Romania, and the US, we operate on a global scale, combining technical expertise with local delivery. Position Summary
NeoDyne are recruiting a highly skilled Senior HV Engineer to join our expanding Transmission & Distribution team. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver customer Protection & Control (P&C) requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National/ International standards and legislation, and contract specification. The ideal candidate will have experience in P&C design in a NERS certified environment or for major UK utility and detailed knowledge of UK specific P&C schemes up to 132 kV.
The role is offered as a full-time staff position, based at our Chesterfield Office, with an excellent Salary and Benefits package. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and build a team of engineers to deliver customer P&C requirements;
- Identifying all relevant standards and customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National/ International standards and legislation, and contract specification.
- Initiating the preparation of all required drawings and approving all drawings to be submitted.
- Designing work to be undertaken with due regard to Health, Safety & Environmental Procedures, and production of Designer Risk Assessments, as necessary, to fulfil NeoDyne's obligations in compliance with current CDM regulations.
- Examining contract documentation and establishing the Company's scope of work including termination boundaries. Highlighting any differences from the tendered contract requirements to the Project Manager.
- Attending and contributing to Design Review / Contract Close-out Meetings, ensuring that appropriate items are actioned in a timely manner.
- Liaising with Engineers, Designers and Junior Engineers.
- Checking and approving engineering designs prepared by team members.
- Highlighting any design issues to the Design Manager / Project Manager proposing any possible solutions.

Required
Experience & Skills
- Bachelor or Masters degree in electrical engineering
- MIET
- At least 7 years' experience in Protection and Control design in a NERS certified environment or for major UK utility;
- Detailed knowledge of UK specific protection and control schemes up to 132 kV
- Experience liaising with customers and suppliers.
- Ability to process/review calculations to demonstrate integrity of designs.
- Ability to lead a team of engineers to deliver P&C designs from receipt of customer requirements up to as-built;
- Experience of Protection Relay Test Equipment
- Experience in P&C FEED or detailed design of high voltage (11kV to 132kV)
