Senior HVAC Engineer – Technical Sales & Applications

Are you a Senior HVAC Engineer with a strong understanding of air-conditioning, heating and climate-control systems, combined with a practical engineering approach and a passion for finding effective solutions to technical requirements?

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior HVAC Engineer to join our ambitious and engineering-focused business. This is a newly created role that will play an important part in the design, specification, installation, commissioning and technical support of HVAC and climate-control systems, primarily across specialist vehicle and mobile applications, whilst also supporting our Marine and Defence markets. Our product portfolio includes some of the world’s leading manufacturers in HVAC and air-conditioning systems, generators, power electronics and associated equipment, which are supplied into a wide range of specialist vehicle, mobile and other demanding applications.

Experience in vehicle air conditioning and mobile HVAC applications would be highly advantageous.

In particular, we would prefer candidates with practical installation and/or commissioning experience in:

  • Vehicle A/C extension systems – including extending or adapting existing vehicle air conditioning systems.
  • Engine-driven A/C systems – installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of engine-driven air conditioning solutions.
  • Self-contained A/C systems – installation and application of independent/self-contained air conditioning units.
  • Vehicle-mounted HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Electrical, mechanical and refrigerant connections associated with mobile A/C installations.
  • Fault finding, servicing and commissioning of vehicle A/C systems.

A strong understanding of the practical challenges associated with installing HVAC equipment on vehicles is particularly desirable, including space constraints, power requirements, refrigerant pipework, electrical integration, mounting and system performance.

The Role

  • Take a leading technical role in the design, specification, installation and commissioning of HVAC and climate-control systems.
  • Assess customer and application requirements and develop practical, technically appropriate HVAC solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout projects, from initial concept through to installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their application, environmental and operational requirements.
  • Support the preparation of system specifications, quotations, technical proposals and project documentation.
  • Provide technical input to the sales team, helping to ensure proposed solutions are appropriate, achievable and commercially viable.
  • Assist with product selection, system configuration and sizing of HVAC equipment.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers regarding technical specifications, system requirements and product suitability.
  • Attend customer sites to assess applications, support installation activities and provide technical assistance where required.
  • Oversee or undertake the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring equipment is correctly configured and operating to specification.
  • Diagnose technical issues and provide practical solutions during installation, commissioning and operation.
  • Produce and maintain appropriate technical documentation, commissioning records and system information.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams following installation.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, sales, service and installation colleagues to deliver successful projects.
  • Assist with customer meetings and site visits, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Attend relevant industry events, exhibitions and supplier training as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC technologies, regulations, products and industry developments.
  • Support the ongoing development of Fischer Panda UK’s HVAC installation and engineering capabilities. This could eventually lead to developing wider service/support network.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
