Job Details

Role: The Senior Import Agent is pivotal in supporting all aspects of daily import operations, from initial enquiry through shipment recovery and final clearance, ensuring shipments are handled in a compliant, timely, and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities: Under this role, the Senior Import Agent will:

  • Comply with World Courier ((WC)) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which include instructions for the reception and shipment of materials.
  • Compare received materials with forwarded documentation to verify or flag discrepancies in the WC Packing List.
  • Ensure box contents align with described specifications.
  • Perform tasks on the Operative System CTM-STAR, covering:
    • Inbound, Outbound, Return, and Relocation processes
  • Execute relabeling, stock adjustments, balance, and relocation activities within the ** Facility**.
  • Work closely with clients, service providers, regulatory bodies, other WC offices, internal departments, Border Force, Port Health, and local customs authorities.

Crucial Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of customs clearance processes, CDS (Customs Declarations Service), and customs declarations for air and road freight.
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience liaising with internal/external stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and global offices.
  • A flexible and adaptable mindset, given evolving customs regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional accuracy, compliance, and customer service standards.

Working Pattern:

  • 8.5-hour shifts averaging a 40-hour workweek (Monday–Sunday, 6 am–midnight).
  • Some flexibility in days worked or core hours—discussed at interview.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with World Courier(’)s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), including reception and shipment handling protocols.
  • Verify, match, or flag discrepancies between material received and provided documentation (e.g., WC Packing Lists).
  • Assemble/confirm box contents as per WC documentation.
  • Manage activities in the CTM-STAR system for:
    • Inbound, Outbound, Return, and Relocation processes.
  • Execute relabeling, stock adjustments, balancing, and relocation in-country.
  • Ensure high standards across (accurate, compliant, and timely) import operations.

Stakeholders worked with regularly:

  • Clients, service providers, Border Force, Port Health, local customs authorities, and other World Courier offices (domestic/international).

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Previous experience in logistics, ideally within air or road freight specialisms.
  • Strong familiarity with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) tools.
  • Exceptional personal and interpersonal relationships.
  • Experience liaising with customs authorities, import licensing, or regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in strong IT skills and documentation management.
  • A flexible, independent, and initiative-driven attitude.
