We are seeking an experienced Information Governance professional with experience of advising on complex data protection issues and dealing with Freedom of Information and data protection requests to contribute to our data protection and information governance work plan.
Closing date: 25th August 2026 (11.59pm)
Interview dates: 2nd September 2026 (In person, Canary Wharf, London)
Salary: £45,000- £52,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus benefits
Location: Canary Wharf, London (Hybrid working)
Hours: 35 hours per week, from 9.00 to 5.00, Monday to Friday
The Role
The post holder will join a small, forward-thinking team and will help to make sure the GPhC complies with data protection, freedom of information and other information rights legislation. This role includes deputising for the Data Protection Officer, and you will take the lead on a variety of important projects and work, such as responding to information requests, advising on information governance aspects of procurement activity, and facilitating training. You will also advise on data sharing, data protection impact assessments and records management improvements.
The successful applicant will:
- Manage and coordinate responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and other information rights enquiries, ensuring statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.
- Support the development and implementation of information governance policies, procedures and controls that improve compliance and strengthen information management practices to better manage and protect our data.
- Investigate and support the management of data protection incidents and breaches, identifying lessons learned and driving continuous improvement.
- Act as a key advisor across the organisation, providing expert guidance on privacy legislation, Freedom of Information legislation, records management, procurement privacy, data sharing, privacy impact assessments, compliance improvements, investigating incidents and assisting with IG training.
- Build close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the whole organisation.
- Have the opportunity to broaden your own skillset whilst deputising for the Governance and Assurance Manager as Data Protection Officer. There will be learning and development opportunities through involvement in information governance aspects of broader organisational policy and process development.
