Senior Infrastructure Delivery Manager – Storage Migration
9-Month Contract – Inside IR35 – market rate
Location: London based – hybrid working – 3 days a week onsite

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Delivery Manager to lead a strategic enterprise storage migration project. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the migration of critical infrastructure and application workloads to a new storage platform whilst ensuring service stability, robust governance, and minimal business disruption.
This is a hands-on delivery role requiring an individual who is comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels. The successful candidate will work closely with Infrastructure teams, application owners, vendors, and business stakeholders to coordinate migration activities, manage risks, and ensure successful delivery.
Role Purpose
To lead and deliver a complex enterprise storage migration project involving multiple technology platforms, application teams, and business stakeholders. The role will be accountable for project governance, planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, vendor management, and successful migration delivery.
The successful candidate will possess strong delivery management capabilities alongside a practical understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments, storage technologies, Windows and Linux platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the Storage Migration Project.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and critical path activities.
- Establish and manage migration waves, cutover plans, and implementation schedules.
- Track progress against agreed deliverables, timelines, and project objectives.
- Manage project governance, reporting, and steering committee updates.
- Ensure risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies are actively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

Stakeholder and Application Engagement
- Work closely with application owners and business stakeholders to understand application dependencies and migration requirements.
- Coordinate application testing, validation, and business acceptance activities.
- Build strong relationships across Infrastructure, Operations, Architecture, Security, and Application teams.
- Act as the primary point of coordination between technical delivery teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Produce clear and concise communications suitable for both technical and executive audiences.
- Chair project meetings, workshops, and planning sessions, ensuring actions are driven through to completion.
Migration Planning and Execution
- Coordinate migration waves, change activities, and implementation schedules.
- Ensure migration activities are fully documented and approved through established governance processes.
- Drive readiness reviews, migration rehearsals, and cutover planning.
- Coordinate rollback planning and ensure contingency arrangements are in place.
- Monitor migration execution and ensure issues are escalated and resolved promptly.
- Work closely with Storage, Wintel, Linux, Network, and Database teams to coordinate delivery activities.
Vendor and Partner Management
- Manage third-party suppliers, professional services organizations, and technology vendors.
- Coordinate vendor deliverables and ensure commitments are achieved.
- Facilitate technical workshops and planning activities involving multiple suppliers.
- Hold suppliers accountable for delivery milestones and agreed outcomes.
Operational Readiness
- Ensure support teams are prepared to support the target environment.
- Coordinate knowledge transfer and handover activities.
- Work with operational teams to ensure successful transition to BAU support.
- Ensure support documentation, operational procedures, and support models are updated as required.

Essential Experience
- Previous enterprise storage migration experience (mandatory).
- Experience delivering large-scale SAN, NAS, or enterprise storage migration projects within production environments.
- Proven experience planning and executing migration waves, cutovers, rollback activities, and application validation.
- Demonstrable success delivering complex infrastructure transformation or migration projects.
- Significant experience coordinating activities across infrastructure, application, and business teams.
- Strong dependency management, scheduling, and critical path planning skills.
- Experience managing third-party vendors and professional services organizations.
- Experience operating within highly regulated or controlled environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to operate in a hands-on delivery role, actively driving actions, and coordinating technical teams.
- Strong experience working with application owners and business stakeholders to manage migration dependencies and minimize operational risk.
Technical Knowledge
Whilst this is not a technical lead role, candidates must possess a working knowledge of:
- Enterprise storage platforms.
- SAN and storage networking concepts.
- Storage replication and disaster recovery technologies.
- VMware virtualized environments.
- Windows Server infrastructure.
- Linux platforms.
- Enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
- Change management and release processes.
- Application dependency mapping and migration planning.
Desirable Experience
- Financial Services experience.
- Experience delivering infrastructure refresh or transformation projects.
- Experience working with Dell, Hitachi, Huawei, NetApp, or equivalent enterprise storage platforms.
- Experience managing large-scale server, platform, or data center migration projects.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent delivery/project management certification.
