SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, INFRASTRUCTURE X2
If you have strong AWS and Kubernetes experience and want the opportunity to shape how infrastructure is built rather than simply maintain an established platform, this is worth a look.
We are working with a growing US technology business that is opening a New Engineering Function in NI.
Their engineering function is distributed across multiple locations, with a remote-first culture and a relatively lean infrastructure team. That means this role has genuine influence over how engineering teams build, deploy and operate software.
The role
This is a senior individual contributor position within the infrastructure function. You will take ownership across cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, observability, security, compliance and disaster recovery, while working closely with software engineering, product, IT and security teams.
As the platform continues to scale, you will also help shape infrastructure standards and improve how engineering teams consume cloud services internally.

What you'll be doing
- Design and implement cloud infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, security and cost efficiency
- Build and improve infrastructure tooling that enables engineering teams to deploy and operate services effectively
- Develop observability, monitoring and alerting strategies across production environments
- Improve CI/CD and infrastructure automation
- Work with security and IT stakeholders on disaster recovery, backups, access controls and compliance
- Support other engineers on infrastructure and cloud architecture decisions
- Contribute to an on-call rotation

What they're looking for
Must have:
- Strong commercial experience working with AWS
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production environments
- Strong Python skills
- Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Experience supporting data-intensive production platforms
- Good understanding of cloud security, observability, disaster recovery and reliability
- Ability to document technical decisions and communicate effectively across engineering and wider business teams
Nice to have:
- Experience within a platform, infrastructure, DevOps or SRE team supporting multiple engineering squads
- Experience working with modern data platforms or cloud data infrastructure
- Exposure to data governance, privacy or classification requirements
- Experience supporting security, compliance or audit programmes
