Senior Infrastructure Engineer
£400-450 per day, Outside IR35
Initially until the end of Jan 2027 (+ Likely extensions)
3 Days per week onsite in Gatwick
Unify are exclusively partnering with a well known brand in the Defence industry. We are supporting them by strengthening their IT team with crucial Contractor hires who can hit the ground running and add value from day one.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with genuine, hands-on experience in virtualisation, advanced networking, Microsoft security technologies, multi-site infrastructure, and enterprise application platforms. This role requires a real technical practitioner - someone who can design, deliver, and support complex systems with confidence, depth, and accuracy.

- Networking: Hands-on experience with enterprise switching, wireless and WAN technologies
- Virtualisation: Experience supporting virtualisation platforms and remote application / desktop delivery solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Virtualisation clusters and multi-site replication.
- Enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Network-attached and shared storage platforms
- Windows Server & Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Relational database platforms.
- SASE or equivalent secure networking technologies.
- Enterprise identity, security and compliance tooling.
- Strong troubleshooting, fault isolation and root-cause analysis skills across infrastructure and application layers.

Security & Governance
- Experience delivering:
- Conditional Access
- DLP policies
- Microsoft Defender and identity protection
- Good understanding of MFA, RBAC, privilege management, and identity lifecycle practices.

- Clear communicator with strong documentation skills.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage senior-level responsibilities.
- Collaborative, proactive, and able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
