Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Working Hours: Full-time
Job Type: Contract – Inside IR35
Contract Length: 6 months
Daily Rate: Competitive
Location: Hybrid – Milton Keynes / London (x3 days per week onsite)
About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and improve secure enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. The role has a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Linux, networking, and endpoint security. You will work across hybrid infrastructure, including Azure Arc onboarding, Azure Monitor Agent deployment, XDR/EDR security tooling, monitoring, and platform automation. This is a hands-on engineering position requiring strong infrastructure knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across Windows, Linux, cloud, and network environments.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and support Azure and hybrid infrastructure services.
- Onboard and manage Windows and Linux servers through Azure Arc.
- Deploy and troubleshoot Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) across enterprise infrastructure.
- Configure Azure monitoring, Log Analytics, data collection, and alerting.
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot XDR/EDR security agents across server environments.
- Administer Windows and Linux infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, and security hardening.
- Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and certificate services.
- Troubleshoot networking and connectivity across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Support Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs, firewalls, VPNs, and private connectivity.
- Automate infrastructure and deployment activities using PowerShell, Bash, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Support vulnerability remediation, security compliance, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational standards.

Essential Experience & Technical Skills
- 5+ years' experience in Infrastructure, Platform, Cloud, or Systems Engineering.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure administration experience.
- Experience managing Azure Arc-enabled Windows and Linux servers.
- Experience deploying and supporting Azure Monitor Agent (AMA).
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing XDR/EDR agents.
- Strong Windows Server and Linux administration skills.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Strong networking knowledge across TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and proxies.
- Experience with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Strong PowerShell skills with experience using Bash.
- Strong infrastructure troubleshooting and security-hardening experience.

Desirable Experience
- Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Cortex XDR, or similar.
- Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Ansible, or comparable deployment technologies.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Microsoft Entra ID and Defender for Cloud.
- Azure networking, including ExpressRoute and Private Endpoints.
- DevOps and CI/CD environments.
- ITIL or structured service-management environments.
- Experience automating large-scale infrastructure or security deployments.
