Infrastructure Engineer
Solihull – Office based/Hybrid
£55k -£65k
We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a broad technical background and particularly strong experience across Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure.
This isn't a pure Cloud, DevOps or Platform Engineering position. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working across a wider infrastructure environment but has the depth of Azure knowledge to become the go-to person within the team.
You'll take ownership of the Azure estate while getting involved in everything from Microsoft 365 and Entra ID through to migrations, integrations, automation, virtualization and wider infrastructure projects.
A major part of the role will be supporting the integration of newly acquired businesses, including cloud and tenant-to-tenant migrations, so it's an interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys project work and solving the challenges that come with bringing different technology environments together.
What you'll be doing
- Take technical ownership of the Azure environment and become the team's go-to person for Azure infrastructure and best practice
- Lead and support cloud and tenant-to-tenant migrations, particularly as newly acquired businesses are integrated
- Manage and support Azure infrastructure including virtual machines, networking, storage, backup and monitoring
- Work across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, including identity, RBAC, MFA and Conditional Access
- Build and support integrations between Azure, Microsoft 365 and third-party SaaS platforms
- Automate user provisioning, joiner/mover/leaver processes and other repetitive infrastructure tasks
- Use PowerShell and other automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual administration
- Deploy and manage virtual machines and services within a private/hybrid cloud environment
- Work across the wider infrastructure estate alongside other members of the team
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and act as a technical escalation point
- Work closely with security and networking teams to ensure the environment remains secure, resilient and well governed
- Identify opportunities to use automation and emerging AI tooling to improve infrastructure operations

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
We're not necessarily looking for someone who has spent their entire career specialising in Azure. You may have started out in traditional infrastructure, systems or Microsoft engineering and developed increasingly strong Azure and Microsoft cloud expertise as environments have moved towards cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong, hands-on Microsoft Azure experience
- A broad background in infrastructure or systems engineering
- Good experience across Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
- Experience delivering cloud migrations, tenant migrations or infrastructure transformation projects
- Strong knowledge of identity and access management
- Good PowerShell scripting and automation skills
- Experience integrating SaaS applications through SSO, provisioning, APIs or connectors
- Experience working with virtualised and/or hybrid infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting skills across a wider infrastructure environment
- The confidence to take ownership of technical problems and make recommendations
- The communication skills to work effectively with both technical teams and the wider business

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience with Microsoft Graph API, HPE GreenLake, acquisition/integration projects or AI tooling would be particularly useful, but isn't essential.
Why consider it?
This is a role with genuine technical ownership rather than simply maintaining an existing environment.
You'll have the opportunity to become the team's Azure subject matter expert, while retaining the variety that comes from working across a broad infrastructure estate.
With continued integration and transformation work ahead, there will be plenty to get involved in across Azure, Microsoft 365, identity, migrations, automation and infrastructure improvement.
Please note: Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
