Job Description
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will team lead one of our Infrastructure engineering delivery teams, this will entail the day to day management of the platform. The platform is currently in a transitional state as the capability is developed therefore the post holder will be heavily involved in the ongoing project work to enable and support change delivery activities and managing the production cloud environments in a secure & constant evolution of tech debt.
The candidate will manage, coordinate and prioritise tasks to resolve technical incidents as quickly as possible. Suggest better ways of practice and provision environments. Work through Projects to implement new cloud infrastructure. Maintain and keep environments up to date with security & technical debt in mind. Work closely with architects, engineers and service managers to fix technical problems and identify and escalate repeat issues as necessary. Seek opportunities to improve service and reduce cost. Coach and mentor junior team members and assist in the provision of first class services and consistent levels of capability as required by the organisation.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
The post-holder will be able to demonstrate extensive experience within an enterprise infrastructure environment. Working in a technical delivery role within a complex project delivery -or equivalent- in an IT infrastructure environment. Building and supporting infrastructure solutions within a cloud services environment. Managing cloud environments. Windows server knowledge and experience to Administration level for current Windows Server versions- as well as experience of older versions of windows server such as 2008-2012-2016. Experience in deployment and use of core infrastructure services and their interdependencies e.g. AD- group policy- networking- monitoring- backups. Translation of strategy and architecture into deliverable operational technical solutions. Establishing effective system monitoring solutions, Transition and transformation of services from legacy datacentres to Vmware platforms. Experience of delivery- management and process underpinning virtual server platforms -Microsoft Server and database technology-- including technical and business readiness for service introduction- and the wider management- security and monitoring capabilities required to deliver an excellent service. Operating in a multi-vendor and-or tower based delivery environment- co-ordinating multiple technical streams to enable delivery. Assuming ownership of issues and managing their satisfactory resolution. Taking ownership of creation and delivery of the technical aspects of a project
Desirable Criteria
Recent experience within a server infrastructure environment. Administrative understanding of Azure & AWS cloud environments. Managing a team

Salary and Benefits

Sift

Interview
During the panel interview, your Experience will be assessed, and you will be asked Strength-based questions to also explore what you enjoy and your motivations relevant to the job role.

There is no expectation or requirement for you to prepare for the strengths-based questions in advance of the interview, though you may find it helpful to spend some time reflecting on what you enjoy doing and what you do well.
You will also be asked a mix of technical questions related to Infrastructure engineering, leading a team, including managing engineers and building the right person into a better engineer. You will also be asked questions on engineering in the cloud.
Interviews will take place via video link. Sift and interview dates to be confirmed.
