Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer | Remote-based with hybrid client travel | £70,000 - £80,000
Accelero are working with an established technology consultancy, that is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join its growing engineering function.
Working on complex and secure technology programmes, you'll play a key role in designing, building and automating enterprise infrastructure environments. This position would suit an experienced Infrastructure, Platform or Systems Engineer with strong automation and orchestration expertise, particularly within Ansible.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep technical knowledge across infrastructure, networking and automation, with opportunities to contribute to technical design, customer engagement and solution delivery.
The Role
You will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting modern infrastructure platforms while driving automation and orchestration across complex environments. Working alongside architects, engineers and stakeholders, you'll help deliver resilient, scalable and secure solutions whilst reducing manual operational effort through automation-first approaches.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and support enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure automation and orchestration solutions using Ansible.
- Automate system deployment, configuration and operational processes.
- Support cloud and hybrid infrastructure platforms.
- Contribute to technical design documentation and solution development.
- Work closely with customers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and service delivery through automation.
- Promote infrastructure best practice, security and operational excellence.

Skills & Experience
We're particularly interested in individuals with experience in:
- Enterprise infrastructure engineering across Windows and/or Linux environments.
- Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls and network architecture.
- Ansible automation and orchestration.
- Infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Virtualisation technologies such as VMware.
- Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, Python or Bash.
- Technical design, documentation and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable
- Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Packer, etc.).
- Kubernetes, OpenShift or container platform experience.
- Experience within Defence, Government or other highly regulated environments.
- Active SC or DV Clearance.
- Previous consultancy experience.
