About The Job

Job summary

Please note this role requires you to pass Security Check clearance. For further information, please see 'Selection process details'.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join DWP Engineering as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer and to create innovative digital solutions that make a difference to the lives of our 22 million users. We’re driving the adoption of Public Cloud services in line with Government Digital Service (GDS) and DWP’s own strategic hosting architectural principles.

The strategy for our engineers is to implement a ‘Digital by Default’ approach. We will do this by providing an end-to-end ‘multi-cloud’ hosted service for our Product Development Units. We’ll be providing a securely connected hosting service which removes DWP’s reliance on traditional hosting solutions and contracts.

To ensure our success, we are standardising, simplifying and automating, together with developing processes, training and tools to accelerate our delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
