The base pay is £44,241. In addition to this the role includes a Digital and Data allowance of up to £14,756.

Role Overview
As a Senior Engineer focused on Telecoms, you will be involved in a range of diverse projects, helping to deliver our new telephony system (software or hardware). You will be a subject matter expert with a wide range of systems or in-depth product knowledge as well as being critical to developing others. You will use your knowledge to work with minimal supervision, reviewing existing processes with the objective to make changes to improve services, helping to define and implement technical best practice.
As an expert in all things Telecoms and communications, you will be well versed managing high volume call centre technologies and have a keen eye for detail within a modern VOIP/SIP environment. You will have a solid understanding of cloud-based contact centre solutions (CCaS) and back-office solutions within telephony and stay up to date with new products, tools and techniques, encouraging their use within the business to promote continuous improvement of capability.
This is an important role within the team as you will be required to plan, support and sometimes lead the development and implementation of new technologies. This includes providing support to junior staff and building successful relationships with key stakeholders.

- Work with and support third parties in providing infrastructure services.
- Lead and direct infrastructure specialist teams in building, managing, supporting, and maintaining solutions according to departmental policy (if taking a managerial path).
- Cisco, enterprise class routing and switching to include QoS, DSCP, and VOIP protocols, SIP Trunking technologies.
- Advanced problem solving and critical thinking trouble shooting to meet the needs of telephony customers and support other technical leads where appropriate.
- Working in teams to deliver continual improvements and projects manager for small to large projects.

About You
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following experience:
- As an expert in all things Telecoms and communications, you will be well versed managing high volume call centre technologies and have a keen eye for detail within a modern VOIP/SIP environment.
- You will have a solid understanding of cloud-based contact centre solutions (CCaS) and back office solutions within telephony and stay up to date with new products, tools and techniques, encouraging their use within the business to promote continuous improvement of capability.
- As a Senior Engineer, you will be required to plan, support, and sometimes lead the development and implementation of new technologies. This includes providing support to junior staff and building successful relationships with key stakeholders.
- You must hold ITIL Lv4, ISO27001, PCI DSS, and Feature Driven Design methodologies or be willing to work towards completing this within 18 months.
Additional Information
The role is part of the Government Digital and Data (or Government Security Profession Career Framework) profession and utilises an enhanced Capability–Based Pay Framework which provides access to a Digital and Data allowance.
The base pay is £44,241.00. In addition to this, the role includes a Digital and Data allowance of up to £14,756.00. The value of allowance awarded will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated through the selection process.
