Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Working Hours: Full-time
Job Type: Contract – Inside IR35
Contract Length: Until April 2027
Daily Rate: Competitive
Location: Remote / Cardiff – quarterly onsite attendance required
About the Role
Our client is looking for experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineers to build, maintain and improve secure, resilient infrastructure and platform services.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on Linux, AWS, Terraform, Docker and infrastructure security. You will work across cloud platforms, automation, configuration management and operational security to ensure critical services remain reliable, protected and scalable.
You will also work closely with engineering and security teams, providing technical guidance and driving improvements across infrastructure, automation and platform operations.
Responsibilities
- Build, administer and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Manage and troubleshoot Linux-based environments.
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS.
- Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Build and support containerised environments using Docker.
- Automate infrastructure and operational processes using Bash and Python.
- Apply security best practices across infrastructure, configuration and deployment.
- Support identity and access management, configuration management and infrastructure hardening.
- Identify and remediate vulnerabilities and infrastructure security risks.
- Maintain effective monitoring and contribute to incident investigation and resolution.
- Improve platform resilience, availability and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance on secure infrastructure and platform engineering.

Essential Experience & Technical Skills
- Strong experience in Senior Infrastructure, Platform or Cloud Engineering roles.
- Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong hands-on experience building and supporting infrastructure within AWS.
- Commercial experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong experience with Docker and containerised environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure security principles.
- Experience with infrastructure hardening, vulnerability management and secure configuration.
- Strong Bash scripting skills.
- Experience using Python for infrastructure automation or tooling.
- Knowledge of identity and access management.
- Experience supporting secure, resilient and highly available production environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Working Arrangements
The role can be worked predominantly remotely, with attendance at the Cardiff office approximately once per quarter. Candidates must be able to attend onsite when required.
