Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: £78,000–£83,000 + bonus
Benefits: Private Medical Insurance + many more
Reports to: Infrastructure Team Lead
Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Production Technology team. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining, supporting, and improving the infrastructure that underpins our production platforms across data centre and public cloud environments.
Linux and networking are central to our technology estate. You will take ownership of critical infrastructure services, troubleshoot complex issues, drive automation and operational improvements, and contribute to the design and evolution of our platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain and improve Linux-led production infrastructure across data centre and public cloud environments.
- Design, build and implement Linux platforms and services supporting production and internal workloads.
- Own Linux platform standards, OS lifecycle management, patching, upgrades, configuration management and security hardening.
- Troubleshoot complex Linux, networking and platform issues across performance, availability, connectivity and security.
- Develop automation and Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Bash, Python and related frameworks.
- Design, implement and support secure, resilient networking across data centre, cloud and third-party environments.
- Support core networking technologies including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, Layer 2/3 design, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs and load balancing.
- Contribute to modern network architecture including BGP, OSPF, Spine-Leaf, EVPN-VXLAN, MLAG, VRF, hybrid cloud connectivity and high availability design.
- Lead network troubleshooting, capacity planning, resilience reviews, monitoring, performance analysis and security zoning.
- Support virtualisation and container platforms including Proxmox, VMware, KVM, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Deliver infrastructure projects from design through implementation and operational handover.

Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong Linux engineering experience in production environments, including platform design, implementation, OS deployment, lifecycle management, patching, performance tuning and hardening.
- Experience with Linux automation, orchestration, configuration management and Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Bash, Python or equivalent tools.
- Strong networking experience across data centre and cloud environments, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS and DHCP.
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting Layer 2/3 networks, BGP, OSPF, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing and high availability networking.
- Advanced troubleshooting across Linux, infrastructure and networking, including performance, availability, incident management and root cause analysis.
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP, including hybrid connectivity between data centre and cloud environments.
- Knowledge of infrastructure security, vulnerability management, patching, hardening and secure operations.
- Experience supporting virtualisation and container platforms such as Proxmox, VMware, KVM, Docker or Kubernetes.

Desirable:
- Experience with Spine-Leaf, EVPN-VXLAN, MLAG, VRF, network segmentation, security zoning and advanced Layer 2/3 design.
- Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration and platform automation.
- Experience supporting enterprise server hardware, data centre infrastructure, storage platforms and vendor engagement.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and core Microsoft infrastructure services.
