Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Windows & Virtualisation)

Manchester/Hybrid | Competitive Salary + On-Call Allowance

A leading technology services organisation is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team. This is a hands-on role supporting enterprise-scale Windows, VMware, Azure, and backup environments across a complex multi-site estate.

You'll take ownership of patching, backup operations, virtual machine lifecycle management, infrastructure changes, and technical escalations, playing a key role in maintaining the availability, security, and performance of critical customer environments.

The Role

  • Own the Windows Server patching lifecycle across a large enterprise estate
  • Manage Azure VM patching, backup, and disaster recovery services
  • Administer VMware virtualisation environments and VM lifecycle activities
  • Support and remediate Veeam backup and recovery operations
  • Implement infrastructure changes and contribute to CAB processes
  • Resolve technical escalations and support major incident response
  • Participate in a shared on-call rota

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience in infrastructure engineering, ideally within managed services
  • Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Good Azure administration skills including VMs, networking, backup, and patching
  • VMware vSphere administration experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise backup technologies such as Veeam
  • Knowledge of WSUS, SCCM, and patch compliance processes
  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills
