Role Overview

They are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Manager/ Head of Infrastructure to come in board on a permanent basis. The role is paying a £125,000 - £130,000 base + Discretionary bonus and a generous benefits package.

Job Description

Department

The department manages and maintains the company's technological infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration between on-premise and cloud systems, specifically Microsoft Azure. The department collaborates closely with various business units to support trading activities, enhance operational efficiency, and drive innovation.

Their infrastructure architecture comprises active/active data centres, working as a single logical data centre seamlessly running services between them, complemented with active services with built-in resilience over two Azure regions. They continuously seek opportunities to enhance their capabilities, resilience, and performance with state-of-the-art tooling, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), and automation.

Position Purpose

My client is seeking a talented Senior Infrastructure Manager/ Head of Infrastructure to oversee the design, implementation, and management of the company's IT infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of systems that support the company's trading operations.

You will lead a team of IT engineers to drive and deliver their modern infrastructure, coordinate projects, and develop strategies to optimise the infrastructure in line with business goals.

The successful candidate must be curious, willing to learn new skills, keep pace with technology trends, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and be accustomed to a robust and hands-on engineering culture to help us evolve the services we offer.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the IT team
  • Design, implement, and manage the organisation's IT infrastructure, including on-premise and cloud systems
  • Monitor the functionality of IT systems to ensure smooth operation and quick resolution of issues
  • Develop strategies and plans for the implementation of IT solutions that support the business
  • Coordinate and direct resources to ensure system performance and availability
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the infrastructure architecture meets the quality and security demands
  • Work closely with the Data, Quant and Analyst teams to meet organisational objectives and optimise service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards
  • Develop contingency plans and risk management processes to ensure business continuity
  • Manage budget and contracts related to IT systems and vendors

Experience Required

  • Substantial experience in an IT infrastructure or platform operations management position, preferably in the finance sector
  • Proven experience developing and supporting a hybrid on-premise and cloud architecture, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Skilled with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code tools and concepts

Technical Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure and its integration with on-premise systems
  • Proficiency in network infrastructure, including Cisco technologies
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies, storage platforms and cloud computing
  • Strong knowledge of IT security practices and tools
  • Proven experience of Infrastructure as code and configuration as code tools and concepts
