An excellent opportunity with a major UK Tier 1 contractor
I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Planner to join the Infrastructure team of one of the UK’s largest and most established Tier 1 contractors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to join a business delivering major, high-value infrastructure projects across the South West, with a strong pipeline of work and significant exposure across the water and wider infrastructure sectors.
You’ll play a key role across projects from pre-qualification and tender stage through to delivery and completion, working closely with bid, design, commercial and operational teams to develop robust programmes, shape project strategies and provide greater certainty around delivery.
This is a role where your planning expertise will have genuine influence, rather than simply being focused on maintaining programmes.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for leading planning and programming activities across major infrastructure projects, providing both pre-contract and live project planning expertise.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading planning and programming activities across PQQs, tenders and live infrastructure projects
- Developing and managing integrated Primavera P6 and Asta Powerproject programmes
- Producing resource-loaded and cost-loaded programmes
- Developing construction methodologies, sequencing strategies and phasing plans
- Supporting project strategies, identifying risks and opportunities and developing mitigation plans
- Implementing Short Interval Control (SIC) and 5-Week Look Ahead planning processes
- Monitoring progress, productivity, resources and programme performance
- Undertaking critical path analysis and developing recovery strategies where required
- Producing clear programme reporting for project and senior management teams
- Working closely with commercial, design, operational and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle

About You
We’re looking for an experienced planning professional with a strong background within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or water.
You’ll ideally have:
- Significant experience planning and programming major construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Asta Powerproject
- Experience producing resource and cost-loaded programmes
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and project controls
- Experience with critical path analysis, progress reporting, resource forecasting and programme recovery
- Experience with SIC, 5-Week Look Ahead and Lean Planning techniques
- Experience working within an NEC environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work confidently across multidisciplinary project teams
